In the Shadow of Tlaloc: Life in a Mexican Village

Until about1968, the life of Jonotla's fifteen hundred residents was much as it had been before the Spanish conquest but in the mid-1960's the 20th century finally arrived - roads, cars, buses, electricity, and a more competitive form of life. This account of those transformations concentrates on a single individual and follows his struggles to cope with and adapt to a new world.
